As a Fire Sprinkler System Designer, you'll be responsible for designing and coordinating fire sprinkler systems in compliance with project schedules and safety standards. Key duties include reviewing contract documents, preparing drawings for approval, listing materials for fabrication and ordering, and supervising the field crew. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, along with expertise in AutoCAD, hydraulics, and fire pump installation. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience and NICET Level 2 certification (or readiness to take the exam) is required. The role also involves periodic site visits to new construction projects and occasional night or weekend surveys of existing buildings, following all safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze project specifications and contract documents to ensure all design requirements and compliance standards are met.
  • Ensure all designs meet local, state, and national fire protection standards and follow all safety protocols during site visits.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of both new construction and existing buildings to assess layout and determine the best fire sprinkler design solutions.
  • Prepare Request for Information.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to create accurate and detailed fire sprinkler system drawings for approval, in line with project deadlines and safety codes.
  • Prepare comprehensive material lists for fabrication and ordering to ensure timely and efficient installation.
  • Supervise field crew, including attending on-site or Teams meetings.
  • Oversee the installation process to ensure the design is executed properly and troubleshoot any challenges that arise on-site.
  • All to be done in accordance with the project schedule.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in Fire Sprinkler System Design.
  • Auto-Cad proficiency.
  • General understanding of Hydraulics.
  • Prior experience designing Fire Pump installation a plus.
  • Need to be analytical with good communication and customer service skills.
  • NICET Level 2 in Fire Suppression - Water Based Systems or ready to sit for Level 2 exam.

Work Requirements

  • Will be expected to periodically be on new construction sites with safety protocols.
  • Sometimes survey existing buildings on night shift and/or weekends.
